Dr. William Barrett
Dr. Bill Barrett’s first encounter with chiropractic care came at the age of 19, when he injured his lower back.
So, as many young men living away from home would do when faced with a similar dilemma, I called my mother. She suggested that I see a chiropractor. I asked, ‘What do they do?’ She said, ‘They fix backs.’ I knew that’s where I needed to go. After nearly crawling into his office, the chiropractor diagnosed my problem, provided the needed treatment and I was back to work one week later. Throughout the next few years I attended college and worked – both intermittently. In the back of my mind was always my chiropractic experience as a patient.
After talking with my chiropractor about the profession, I accompanied him to visit Northwestern Chiropractic University. I knew then that that was the career I wanted to pursue. I returned to college to earn my degree and entered Chiropractic school. I opened the Hugo Chiropractic Clinic in 1978 and I still thoroughly enjoy what I do. And I still have my back adjusted when needed.”In his spare time he pursues mostly outdoor physical activities to keep himself in shape and “allow him to eat some of the foods he enjoys.” Over the years those activities have included fishing, hunting, winter skiing, cutting wood, raising cattle, farming and gardening. He still enjoys cutting grass with a walk-behind mower.
